Mole Sauce

This mole sauce deserves an "olé!" Who knew that seven every day ingredients could transform into this chocolate-based Mexican favorite. Can be used as a dip or topping.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon ancho chile powder
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Cooking:

  1. Combine all ingredients in small saucepan; bring to a boil .  Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes to blend flavors; stirring occasionally.

  2. Place sauce in food processor or blender container. Cover; Pulse on and off for 30 seconds or until smooth; adding 1 to 2 tablespoons water to thin sauce, as needed. Return to saucepan; keep warm until ready to use.
